My love of the treadmill is a little surprising though. Admittedly, working out has not been my thing.... well ever. It's not a habit I've developed. But darn it if Facebook didn't help me find the motivation. I think I always used to justify being bigger with the idea that I was older and surely everyone would be going the same way. Well, when I got on Facebook, not only were many of my friends from college and high school still close to the same size or in shape, some of them were actually in BETTER fitness than when we were younger. The girl from gym glass that I can remember loathing exercise in any form is now a marathon runner and avid cause event junkie. One of my sorority sisters--truly one of the funniest women I know--lost a a great deal of weight recently and she looks just amazing.
Further inspiration came from the sorority sister who posted that she hates running but she loves the results. So I started to think that maybe it was time to give up the excuses and get moving. Not to mention, it should help with my professional and dating lives. Since I started a few weeks ago, I continue to get encouragement from my Facebook friends who are cheering me on in my endeavors. Who knew?
So I leave you with a series of posts from my Facebook page that made me laugh... and gave me encouragement at the same time. My status:
Heather is pleasantly impressed with myself that I find the treadmill more alluring than dating. Hmmm?
John likes this.

I'm not surprised at all. I can feel ya on that one!

Could it be the consistency of the treadmill that's appealing? :-)
Heather at 12:19pm July 10
I was thinking that it's because I feel energized after the
treadmill.... but your explanation is good, too. It could also be that the treadmill doesn't talk or judge.
Shelley at 12:20pm July 10
Or go backwards :-)

The treadmill is always there, is always the strong silent type, can usually make you feel pretty good about yourself. You can totally see the benefits of hanging out with the treadmill; due to the endorphins you're never left unhappy. It always keeps its date with you and will even be there for a spontaneous date. You're never left wondering how the treadmill feels about you or if it will call the next day. The treadmill doesn't mind if you gain a pound or two, it never calls you psycho, and the treadmill will let you cuss it out, abuse it, hate it, and yet it'll always be there the next day.

So basically we're all game to marry a treadmill, correct?
Kathy at 4:54pm July 10
After that sell by Amanda, I'm in!
Heather at 7:23pm July 10
Ah.... I split time with the treadmill and the eliptical, and one never got jealous of the other.... and I realized another benefit is that they can go for miles..... :)

I love it! I'm in the blog :) Keep up the good work and I never thought of Copacabana for working out, but at your suggestion I will be adding it to my list!
